This MN map shows the wind resource in various locations around the state. Minnesota has one of the most agressive Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS)in the nation, requiring 25% of the state's power come from renewable sources by 2025. The southwestern part of the state, in bright orange, has seen the most wind development thus far. This is a result of the high wind speeds fostered by the Buffalo Ridge which extends from northeastern South Dakota through southwestern Minnesota and into northwestern Iowa.
