South Dakota has the 4th best wind resource in the country. Though transmission remains the primary concern, South Dakota is poised to take a leading role in wind development in the Midwest.
White Wind Farm LLC
The White Wind Farm, located in Brookings County, was the first commercial-scale wind farm permitted in South Dakota. Developed by Navitas, it is now owned by Gamesa Energy USA. When complete, it will deliver 200 MW of clean renewable energy.
