Turbine Information
There are three main parts to a turbine; the blade assembly including the blades, rotor and hub, the nacelle which houses the generator and provides counterbalance to the blades, and the tower, usually a tubular steel structure.
Most commercial scale wind farms in the United States use turbines with a nameplate capacity of 1.5 to 2.5 megawatts (MW) The nameplate capacity is the maximum rated output of a generator under specific conditions designated by the manufacturer.
