Wind is created by uneven heating of the earth's surface. Wind turbines can harness the kinetic energy in the wind and convert it into electrical energy by coupling mechanically rotating blades to a generator.
ENVIRONMENTAL:Wind energy is one of the cleanest forms of energy around. It is non-polluting with no emissions, excessive noise or waste heat byproducts. Recent technology advances have reduced risk to migratory birds by increasing the size and visibility of the blades, slowing the speed of rotation and using tubular towers with internal ladders and underground wiring to eliminate roosting and nesting sites on the structure itself.
ABUNDANT:Wind is a naturally occurring resource. Very little processing needs to be done to convert it into usable energy.

ECONOMICAL:Wind is a free, inexhaustible resource. Wind energy has excellent long term price stability due to easily projected operation and maintenance expenses.
LOCAL COMMUNITY BENEFITS:The local community enjoys economic as well as environmental benefits. Wind farms contribute to the local economy with new income for farmers and landowners where the turbines are sited. The construction phase stimulates the local business economy. Ongoing operation creates permanent jobs and local pride.
TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS:Wind is an intermittent resource, with capacity factors of 25 to 40% even at the best sites. Supplementary combustion based generation and battery storage technologies are being developed to smooth out the overall energy supply with demand.
